Jesse Bisiwu has explained his decision to join FC Barcelona this summer, despite a strong contract offer from Club Brugge. The 18-year-old winger moved for a fee of €8.5 million from Club's youth setup, having never made a first-team appearance.

Bisiwu said talks with Barcelona were compelling. "The conversations were very clear. They have a plan for me for the next five years and I will do everything to follow it," the player stated. He acknowledged leaving Club Brugge was tough. "Leaving Club Brugge was not an easy choice. The club wanted me to stay and I know I owe them everything."

Sporting director Deco travelled personally to Belgium to convince the young prospect. Bisiwu explained he wants to maximise his potential and saw Barcelona as the best school for learning. He will start his journey with Barcelona Atlètic, the B-team, where he must first prove his worth.

Currently, Bisiwu is focused on the Belgian U21 side, for which he recently received his first call-up. His international future, for Belgium or Ghana, remains undecided for now. Meanwhile, Club Brugge sit third in the Jupiler Pro League with 18 points from seven games. Nicky Hayen's team has mixed recent form with three wins and two defeats in their last five matches. Their next fixture is an away game against RAAL La Louvière on October 10. Fans can check the full schedule and current standings on our site.
