Club Brugge secured a commanding victory in the top-of-the-table clash against Racing Genk. The 3-0 win at the Jan Breydelstadion extends the gap over their rivals to nine points and maintains the team's unbeaten home record.
Carlos Forbs opened the scoring after fifteen minutes. The second half was decisive with two set-piece goals in five minutes. Lee Han-beom and Brandon Mechele both headed home from Joaquin Seys deliveries. The result sees Club Brugge sitting third in the Jupiler Pro League with 18 points from seven games, just one point behind leaders Union St. Gilloise. Genk fails to respond
Racing Genk arrived in Bruges on a five-match unbeaten run but failed to trouble the hosts. The Limburg side has now lost six consecutive matches against Club Brugge, with their last win dating back to 11 August 2024. Genk's attackers, who average 1.7 goals per game, were completely neutralized on the night. "We are disappointed," said captain Bryan Heynen afterwards. Manager Jess Thorup stated his team created chances but lacked efficiency.
Club Brugge remains undefeated at home this season and has now scored fifteen goals while conceding only three. The next fixture is an away trip to face RAAL La Louvière on October 10th.
