Kyriani Sabbe has signed a contract extension with Club Brugge until 2030. The 21-year-old right-back, a product of the club's academy, commits his long-term future after making 118 first-team appearances.
The club confirmed the new deal, securing a key defensive asset for the coming years. Sabbe made his senior debut in the 2022-2023 season and has since become a mainstay, winning two league titles, the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Supercup with Blauw-Zwart.
Academy graduate stays put
Sabbe is a prime example of Club Brugge's successful youth system. His output highlights his importance, contributing six goals and eleven assists from defence. His new contract running until the summer of 2030 signals faith in the squad's core, which currently sits third in the Jupiler Pro League with fifteen points from six matches.
Ivan Leko's side are just one point behind leaders Union Saint-Gilloise and have a goal difference of plus nine. Their latest result was a 3-1 home win over Antwerp, with Hugo Vetlesen scoring twice.
Goalkeeper pecking order confirmed
Alongside the Sabbe news, the goalkeeper hierarchy has been clarified. Nordin Jackers is confirmed as the third-choice keeper behind number one Yann Sommer and 19-year-old deputy Argus Vanden Driessche. Jackers was on the bench after warm-up in the recent matches against Lommel and Antwerp.
These internal reinforcements come at an opportune time. A key home fixture against Racing Genk awaits on Sunday evening at Jan Breydel. Genk currently sit ninth in the table. The last meeting, on 26 December last year, was a spectacular 5-3 away win for Club Brugge. The complete schedule, including this top match, is on our fixtures page.
With players like Nicolò Tresoldi, who leads the scoring charts with three goals this season, and a stable defence built around Sabbe, Club Brugge approach the Genk clash with confidence. The match kicks off on Sunday evening under manager Ivan Leko. The current squad list is available online.
