Ronny Deila wants to return to management. The Norwegian former Club Brugge coach says he is ready for a new challenge now that an investigation into his conduct in Israel has been closed.
Deila was manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv last year when a female taxi driver filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment. The incident occurred during an evening where he had consumed too much alcohol. "I can't remember the details, because I had drunk too much," Deila said. He denied guilt but apologised if his words had offended anyone. The investigation has now been concluded with no further action taken.
Return
He visited Club Brugge for a training stint at the start of the year and was recently spotted at a Norwegian cup match. "I want to be able to coach again," is his clear message. He has a broad CV with experience in Belgium, the United States, Israel, and the Middle East.
His former club Club Brugge currently sit third in the Jupiler Pro League with 18 points from seven games. The team is unbeaten in its last five league matches. The next fixture is an away game against 14th-placed RAAL La Louvière. Fans can check the full schedule and the current standings.
Deila's tenure at Club Brugge ran from 2022 to 2024. He led the club to the title in the 2023-24 season. His successor, Nicky Hayen, is now building on a strong foundation. The squad list, with top scorer N. Tresoldi, sits just one point behind leaders Union Saint-Gilloise. The most recent result was a 1-1 draw against that same Union side. The complete squad list for the champions is available online.
For Ronny Deila, the focus is now on finding a new club. The closed investigation in Israel has cleared the path for that return.
